FUYA (Antique blouse frm Bada Valley, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia)
FUYA
An antique blouse made from bark cloth material. It is from Bada valley of Central Sulawesi province, Indonesia.
Technically speaking, it is not difficult to make these blouses from hand made paper. So, adequate knowledge and experience to identify the difference between hand made paper and pounded bark cloth is very important. They are very different physically (especially their surface texture). Also, be careful to ensure whether these blouses are colored using natural dyes or synthetic dyes. Currently, the development of synthetic dyeing make the possibility to create the so called 'natural colors'.
